GS認證的含義是德語Geprufte Sicherheit(安全性已認證)，也有Germany Safety" （德國安全）的意思。GS認證以德國產(chǎn)品安全法（SGS）為依據(jù)，按照歐盟統(tǒng)一標準EN或德國工業(yè)標準DIN進行檢測的一種自愿性認證，是歐洲市場公認的德國安全認證標志。
